what's all going on
what an eventful, crazy year this is shaping up to be. there is so much happening i can barely keep up with it all.
first there's the the elections. i am an idealist at heart — always have been, always will be. simply, i believe everyone deserves a shot at a good life, especially in the country i know as america. nothing makes me happier than people being kind and good-hearted towards others. i think we're a better race than to only look out for ourselves, and i think kindness and selflessness gets you further than hatred and arrogance. the person who best represents these ideals to me is barack obama, and it has been making me so excited to see how well he is doing so far in this election. i don't know what it was like to hear kennedy speak in the day, but i do know i get choked up when obama talks about the hopes he has for this country.
secondly there's "the wretched. "the wretched" is the feature-length horror film we shot last summer/fall.(by "we" i mean magnum, scotty, amg, ambf and some other awesomely talented people.) the film plays in its first festival this weekend and i couldn't be more proud and excited. i hope it's just the beginning of where we will go with it and the connections we'll make.
then there's my brother getting married. he finally met an awesome woman who is very sweet and smart and makes him so happy. i always knew my brother deserved such a woman, and i'm so thrilled he found her. i won't point out the fact that she's extremely similar to my mom, just like i won't point out the fact that magnum is extremely similar to my dad...
then there's magnums's brother having a baby. he and his wife are due to have a little girl on their anniversary in june. i'm very excited to meet her. it's so great to think that our little one is going to have a cousin around the same age. i am still very close to some of my cousins, and am so blessed to have them in my life. i'm glad our kids will have the same opportunity.
then there's us having a baby. with everything going on, i've barely had a chance to really get used to this idea. i know it takes me forever to decide what to eat for each meal. i know seeing the little heartbeat on the first ultrasound was awesome. i know i'm excited to find out if we're having a boy or girl. i know i thank god that two of my best friends are also pregnant. i know i really miss drinking (*sigh*). i know our baby isn't a big fan of fried food, but black olives are always awesome. so is ice cream. not together... gross.
