hooray omaha
this is coming a few weeks late, but i finally had the chance to experience omaha's newest concert venue/lounge, the slowdown. this place is so incredible, and just what we needed in omaha. i went to see the silversun pickups with some friends of mine and actually felt like i was at some out-of-town concert.
because i love lists, i decided to jot down some of my favorite things about the slowdown:
1) the walls of windows. omaha's downtown skyline is continually growing and improving, and the slowdown wasn't afraid to show off their fantastic view.
2) the layout. there are so many places to stand or sit and enjoy the show from many different vantage points. i remember reading an article about how much they concentrated on this particular part of the design, and i definitely think they succeeded in creating a great concert-watching venue.
3) the non smoking. yes, i'm one of those... but it's so nice not having my hair stink and my eyes burn.
4) the decor. the dark interior and clean design make it a classy, yet very comfortable place to be.
5) the fact that it's a bar. i hadn't really thought too much about it before, but i loved not having to leave right after the show like at sokal. we could just grab a table and relax until we were ready to go home.
6) the parking. there is a lot right behind the venue with many free spaces to park. it's excellent.
overall, i give it two rockin' pointer fingers up.*
